Has anybody experience with the Alisam Sharpening Sled (http://alisam.com/page/tghh/Home.html)? I'd appreciate any comment!

Didn't one of the mags do a review recently on sharpening jigs like this? I don't recall which or when or if it included the Alisam, however.

Hi Rolf,
The main issue with jigs which ride upon a surface other than the stone is the variable height of stones--this affects the bevel angle.
It looks to be well made. I think in the quest to solve the issue of using more of a stone's surface while using a jig, they made an error in that nobody's sharpening stones remain an even height.
I think this is an issue of non-woodworkers--albeit good engineers--designing something for woodworkers. Seems to me if they had a bit of real-life input or a broader range of input, they would have designed it to ride on a stone's surface.
Take care, Mike

Hi Mike,
sorry for the late response!
They write that there are spring loaded front bearings for a .01 inch "give". Is that to work with not completely true stones?
