Hello folks,

last Saturday I spent about seven hours at THE woodworking show in Germany. I had a really great day and hope you like the pics I'm going to share with you. It's almost incredible that I didn't buy any tools but I can assure you that it I could hardly resist the temptations.

See how Altendorf saws have changed over time.

Nice pics, Christian! Nice, Iron, too. I especially like the first two pics contrasting the "old" with the "new" Altendorf. The drywall driver head for the Festool drill/driver is also interesting, although I think I'd prefer a corded tool for a big drywall job over flipping batteries.

Very interesting. Looks like some of the neat features of the Festool system are in other manufactures lines. The Mafel saws look to be using a very similar type of zero clearance guide system and the Scheer routers have a container that looks very similar to the systainers that festool uses. In general it looks like the euro tool companies are much more into innovation and thinking outside the box that what we usually see imported here into the states. I would love to see more euro tools being imported into the states, I think it would significantly raise the bar.

And thanks for posting the photos.

Looks like a great way to spend the afternoon Christian. Thanks for the pics.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you drool over the Mafell moreso than the Festool? Did they add any cool new features?

Thanks for sharing the pictures-- very neat stuff!!! Where in Germany was the show? I just got home last night from a week in Germany & Austria, and I'm a little disappointed that I missed the show.:( I had a wonderful time in Austria, though-- you're very fortunate to be able to call it home!

I have just one question - how did you post so many pictures per post? I thought that 5 was the limit.

Great pictures, but most of that would not have fit in your car anyway. Or my shop.

Christian - Thanks for the really nice pics. That looks like it must have been a very impressive show. It would seem worth it just to kick the tires on a few machines.

I don't know how you managed to leave empty handed. Talk about willpower! :) Of course from the looks of some of those machines I would be afraid to ask for the price.

Very cool, Christian, a most impressive show. Some of those tools look like they belong in a laboratory or space mission control room. Am I correct in guessing the show was aimed more towards industrial users, and not Joe Garage making little projects for his family? I seem to recall from your previous posts that woodworking as a hobby is not as common in Germany and Austria as it is here in the US. Is that correct?

Thanks also for the abundance of pictures. I'll go wipe off my keyboard now. :p

Christian, I hope you can answer this I'm wonder too. If they don't do woodworking what then?

Also I understand that Altendorf saw was their first about 100 years ago.
