The weekend started Friday afternoon. I passed a gentleman cutting up a bug infested Maple next to the road and stopped to beg for wood. As he was doing all the work I didn't ask for much. This piece is 18" tall and about 8" on a side.

Having completed my two main tasks for the weekend: cleaning the kitchen and catching up on laundry, I decided to venture up to the shop on Sunday afternoon.
I needed a new spatula and between the pictures previously posted here and the AW article, I decided to give it try. This is a monster one! It's 13" long with a 6" handle, in Cherry. The blade is almost 3" wide at the bottom. The next one will be smaller but I needed a large one for those one pan meals.

The boys returned from Mom's just as the spatula was coming off the lathe and Avery decided to take over! He's making a stirrer with the correct size handle for him. He saw what I had done with the spatula and decided to give the wire burners a try. Tonight we will part it off and finish it.
