When John and John where here the other day We got into a discusion on sanding, which resulted in me getting at the lathe and mounting up this walnut bowl which needed sanding. Well since it was all ready chucked up and I all ready had most of the 80 grit gouge work done I finished it off a little bit ago

Walnut, with some sapwood in it. BLO, carnuba wax finish. 10.25 X 3.75

The placement of the contrasting sap and heart wood makes this form really look good.

Nice bowl Robert. Does the sap wood turn like the rest of the walnut?

thanks guys!

Jim, it turns about the same, maybe a little softer and it doesn't seam to tearout as much

Beautiful bowl Robert. I really am beginning to like the sap one contrasting with the dark wood. Great job.

Very nice, Robert. Love the shape and the grain contrast. One down and how many to go?

Very nice - we'll have to send John down more often to crack the whip!
Like everyone else I like the color change between the heart and sap wood. It gives the bowl some real depth. Great job.
