I am a refugee from The Oak. Hooray it's back up again!

I was looking at the SMC tread on the X5 6" jointer and noticed that persons were not getting the Mobile Base deal. Note that in Amazon.com January/Fegruary, 2006 Catalog #641 page 13, it clearly states "Through May 30, 2006 select X5 tools will include a mobile base at the time of purchase." This is on the same part of the page explaining the Delta X5 rebate or free tools program. A phone number on the ad is 800-635-5140 or www.amazon.com/delta (http://www.amazon.com/delta). The 37-275X X5 Jointer is on page 15 and it lists that there is a free mobile base. The price in catalog #641 is $579 before any rebate. The $100 Delta and $100 Amazon rebate should bring it down to $379. I guess the jointer is currently on sale. Maybe this doesn't apply to your purchase, maybe it does. Seems like it should. I find if I call Amazon they are quite willing to help out. It seems that weekends and evenings work best. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info, Paul. That'll make me push a little harder. I just got off the phone with them again and they refused to help me since the issue has already been forwarded to marketing. BTW, I tried the tools phone number this time and they couldn't help me at all since I purchased the item online. I had to deal with the general customer pervice people. I suspect that if I had called the order in, the tools dept would be of more assistance.

I have a $2000 PM2000 table saw on order with them right now so maybe that'll give me a little bit of leverage.

I went through the same thing recently when I purchased the Delta X5 14" bandsaw from Amazon. I too got all the discounts and rebates and was suprised when my saw came with no mobile base. I contacted Amazon and they said I should have added the mobile base to the shopping cart at the time of purchase and the price would have been deducted prior to checkout. They sent one for free that day.

Thanks for the heads up. On 20 March, I submitted an order to Amazon for the X5 6 inch Jointer, and a mobile Base. With the free shipping, and two rebates it was still going to be around $379. On Thursday a fellow Creeker posted a thread that the Jointer had been reduced $ 58.00. I called and Amazon credited my account by $58.00 bringing the price to $ 321.00 but I was still buying a mobile base for $99.00. I just got off the phone with Amazon, and they have given me an additional credit of $99.00 for the base. After all is said and done, the $579.00 Jointer with a $99.00 base and $158.00 shipping (total of $836.00) will now cost me only $321.00:D .

It pays to be a Creeker! Saved me $515.00 in a week!

Ron,

Don't post that you saved $500 here, now others members will feel obligated to help you spend that $500 on more toys...I mean tools ;)
