Hello Everybody,

I have a question about Behlen Lacquer flattener additive. The directions say to add 5 to 7 % flattener to gloss lacquer to achieve a satin sheen. Does this mean you add the flattener before you reduce the lacquer with thinner? Or do you reduce the lacquer first and then add the thinner?

Any help would be appreciated.

..that you'll have to play with it to achieve your desired finish. There really isn't a formula. Add the flattening agent to your lacquer and add about fifty percent thinner, then strain it through a nylon stocking. Save the stocking if you need more agent. Thin the agent with thinner and run it through the stocking. If you don't, you'll get a burst of undissolved glitch on you work.
