. I've never worked with canary wood before, but stumbled across a piece the other nite that is destined to become a dried flower box.(I have no idea what one is, but I have a torn out magazine picture of one sitting on a coffee table)
The piece has hues and streaks of black and reddish pink, along with the yellow undertones.
I would like to keep the wood in the most natural finish I can. What suggestions does anyone have? It's a very simple box, so the wood and the finish are the main attractions.

We all test our finishes on scrap. Its totaly up to the individual. I would suggest a natural stain to bring out the grain and or the colors of the wood. This may be achieved with BLO, altho with a darker hue. Test a few ways and do what you think is best for your taste. Hope this helps.
PS: Shellac is a good way to bring out the natural beauty of many woods.
