I have found one…. A big one and want to know if anyone has seen one turned or turned one. It is going to be hard to get, but I can do it if the burl is any good.

I had trouble uploading the pic. I will try later.

I have never turned any, but have tried to split for firewood. You will definitely want to turn it green. When dry, it makes dried oak look like soft wood. I could not even get a wedge or ax started into the end.

Tony,
I've turned a fair amount of gum, mostly green, and like it a lot. Most of the trees I have seen were small--less than 12-14" and had mostly sapwood. The larger trees have a very nice figured heartwood, which I think is sold commercially as red gum. If the burl contains the darker heartwood it should be well worth the effort to grab.
