Well here is the bowl finished and with Behlens salad bowl finish on it. It still didn't come out as well as I would have liked but what the heck it will hold several scoops of Dark Sweet Cherry ice cream. Pictures aren't to good either. I am either to tired from scooping to much snow or something. Anyway it didn't turn out to bad. A couple of places I wish I could have got smoother. The next one will be better. It is 5 1/2" across and 4" tall. Thanks.

I'm with Corey - neat sapwood swirl with a spinning, vortex look...... I like the height and size too.

Bernie, that dark walnut combined with the light sapwood is a great combination.

I also like the contrast in the wood. Looks like a great ice cream bowl, too! Nice work!
Thanks for the pictures!

Your timing is excellent, Bernie. This one is poifect for a scoop or two of Kansas Chocolate Snowflake Swirl.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I bought a squirt bottle last night to keep by the lathe. I tried both MS and squirting it with water. Both worked fairly well. I am also going to try John H.'s suggestion and see how that works on the next one.

Hmmm...don't know how I missed this one yesterday. I really like that light colored wood in there Bernie! Looks like a dark chocolate with marshmallow swirl......It doesn't need ice cream!!!:)

Color on it is great John. I was always looking for walnut with nothing but brown but I really like a little sap wood now. Really sets it off. Thanks.

Bernie I don't know where you get such dark walnut. The only walnut I've seen lately has a lot of sap wood in it. Real nice!

Jim I get it of the big auction site from a guy in Idaho. No not Ken Fitzgerald. Search for wooden-animal. He generally has some pretty good walnut and also sells some cheaper as seconds. He tells you those have checks in them.

Bernie,
Another masterpiece my friend :) I cannot believe how well your skills have developed in such a short period of time. Keep them coming!
