Started just turning some scrap to get some practice with the bowl gouges and ended up with this. I sort of like it. I was turning the walls thin and got a lot of chatter. Was afraid to turn it out. The was were are about 3/16" now.

Pecan with a shellac coat on the outside.

Thanks Bernie. I was an avid turner 10 + years ago so I have a head start. Just trying to get those skills back to where they were so I can move onward. I didn't show the inside because I never could get it smooth. Looks like a fight happened in there. :o

Finding the bowl gouge not as simple to use as I first expected. I returned a platter last night till I ruined it. But that's fine. I just needed the practice. I keep getting these horrible grooves on the face of the platter. Looked more like an old 78 record than a platter.

Stu, it's 3" dia and 5" tall. An egg would just about dissapear in it.

Very nice! It really reminds me of the old ice cream soda glasses. I do like the Pecan wood.

It's too nice to be an egg cup! I suggest staying with the Pecan theme. Pecan ice cream, whip cream, a drizzle of syrup, and a cherry on top!

Jeff, you have a nice eye. That's a very nice form...and if it were glass, I'd want a couple dips of Forbidden Chocolate in it and a spoon handy!! :)
