Since I'm on a roll here, I might as well fess up to another oops I had recently. This was supposed to be a fruit bowl, but I kinda went thru the side. Always wanted to try making a platter anyway :( . It's 9" diameter and finished with Bush oil.

Well, that's certainly a beautiful platter Ed! What's the wood? You really meant to turn a platter, didn't you? To show off that nice curl better.;)

Good one, Ed.

Gonna do a platter tomorrow. Doubt it will be this nice, though.

No recovery there, the wood was just letting you know what was inside.

Sweet platter!

Thanks for the kind words. I was too dumb to know up front that it wanted to be a platter . Next time I'll pay better attention!

One more save and I'll start to think you played for the 1969 Mets!
I do agree with Bruce, there was a platter hiding in there the whole
time - Great job letting it out - looks really nice!!

Great platter Ed.:) :) 99% of what I turn never ends up being what it started out to be.

So that's how you make a platter.:D I've been doing it all wrong... my platters end up saucers and haven't made a platter yet. I can certainly go through the side of a bowl.

That's a very nice platter Ed. Beautiful grain in that cherry.
