Let me say thanks for the help on some of my questions in the past. I made my choice for the new Grizzly GO462. 16in x 43in cast iron with a 2hp motor. It got here yesterday and I got it all set up and running. Now I just wish my tools I ordered from another company would get here soon. I have some wood just waiting.:)

Roger a suggestion. That extension on the tool rest should be removed for spindle and bowl turning. It's useful for outboard turning but kinda flimsy for everyday use. I have a friend who has that same lathe. I removed it for him and it's a lot sturdier. My .02.

Let me say thanks for the help on some of my questions in the past. I.....
Some - not all? Ken, Bernie, Corey, Jim - come on guys. We do have a quota you know.:D

So Roger - With no tools, how'd you make those shavings? Did'ja just scatter some TS effluent around to provide ambiance? Or did you sharpen a screwdriver?

Congratulations on your new lathe Roger!
A bit of advice, take the swivel arm off the banjo
and just use the tool rest to do inboard turning.
If you have a bad catch you'll probably snap the
banjo in half. IMHO only. I had one similar to yours
and I snapped mine! Found out it's better to remove
the swivel.

Way to go Roger! Congrats! Now it's time to make some "Lace", you know, those long curlies that adorn the wonderful curves of that beautiful Green Lady.

Andy, I had a set of "lathe tools" I got for a very cheap made lathe. They are about 12in in total length and most have come loose out of the handles from using them on the chatter lathe! I got rid of that lathe a while back but kept the tools in case I could find a use for them. I just couldn't wait to get the feel of a smooth lathe after I got it set up. When I got home today my new tools were waiting at the door...YEE HA!
