Hi, I've been lurking here for a few weeks after Stu recommeded this site. I must say I'm very impressed with the people and the quality of work discussed here. I've been building a home on a lake in Eastern Washington for about two years, trying to do most things. It's been an interesting experience to say the least. Anyway I have tried to include some photos of one of the railings. I built them in place for the most part and then removed them to finish be for reinstalling. Like and earlier post I've found it time consuming but interesting.

Welcome to the crowd. What size tenons did you use on that good looking rail?

The tennons are one inch on the small pieces and 2 inches on the rails. Couldn't find any straight trees so I went with bent ones. :)

Ron,
First off, WELCOME TO THE CREEK!! :) Except for one or two crabby old codgers like me, we have a GREAT bunch of FUN, TALENTED and TOLERANT (of me, that is) folks who share the warm friendly waters of The Creek. :)

I make up for my negative personality by having an incredible LACK of woodworking skills! :o

Nice railings, Ron! :D Where did you get the precision lumber? :) If I could afford stuff that straight, I could probably come up with something besides scrap!! :( :)
