I plan to put some maple flooring in the living room this spring/summer and am looking for input and or guidance.

Rosin Paper or something else
Solid maple or ply w/ veneer (I am leaning toward solid)
nail vs. floating
when is glue used - pc. to pc. and to subfloor (if ever)
best / worst time of year to install
size of gap to wall
Other advice?

I am really worried about expansion & buckling.
Thanks all,
Mike

Hi Mike, I laided hardwood floors years ago.

1. We always used rosin paper between the sub floor and the flooring.
2.It's was solid the floating flooring wasn't out yet.
3.Your nail solid you glue a floating floor. We never used glue if we had to nail close to a wall we face nailed it then plug it with filler.
4.The dryer the better but let the floor acclimate for lease 24-48 hour before installing.
5. 1/4 to the wall spacing then covered it with shoe molding.
6. I'll have to sand soild after installing.
7. P.M. if you have more questions.
