View Full Version : LOML retired - Our gift to her boss

After we sold our small business, things got rough. The wife got hired thru connections at a stock brokerage firm and held things in check until I got my old job back. She had to retire due to macular degeneration. Her boss is a retired naval carrier pilot who served from Viet Nam to Desert Storm. One of the nicest people we ever met. As a 'thank you' gift to him she asked me to make something. He loves WWII and before avionics collectibles. She wanted something simple and bold. Thru the net, I bought some suff as the main attraction. I had no real woodworking experience and no lumber. Got oak from Lowes (I know) and kept it dark and masculine. I really built it as sort of a shelf for his shop (he does electrical stuff) but he wound up putting it in his office. Oh well, here's my newbie offering;

Thank you all for making me feel welcome. Yes he is a good man and he was very surprised and happy. I was smart enough to keep an extra instrument out of an old Jenny for him to mess around with.

Been lurking around several forums for the last month or so, keep gravitating back to this one. Guess one day I'll have to get a hat. lol

Welcome to the Creek, Jack. There is absolutely nothing to apologize for...that looks great! Since you are in South Texas, you'll need to make the next one out of Mesquite!;) :D

Great looking work!!

I too hail from the Show-Me-State, while I did not go to Eureka High, I did grow up in Fenton and know many folks that did attend that fine learning institution.

Keep coming back to the Creek, there is alot to learn
