 I'm having trouble with my shop made router table. The hex head set screws used to level the insert in the table are rotating due to vibration, causing the insert to become proud of the table. Insert is 3/8" polycarbonate, drilled and tapped for the hex head set screws.

Can I use some thread lock compound? I want to retain the ability to turn the screws to level the table in the future. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some teflon plumbers tape on the set screws might help... and easy to undo in the future.

Thanks for the response, Ed. I'll try the tape, though from here on the computer and not in the shop, I think the tape may be too thick - these are 4-40 set screws.

You can try a dab, I mean a small dab of blue loc-tite. It should be enough to hold the set screw.

Silicone calking will also work to keep the set screw from moving.
