This is probably the third of fourth time I have come across both curly and Birdseye in the same board, it sure has a wow look in the sunlight. I have three other boards 10' long but what's amazing is they are 10" wide which is rare in itself to find a board that wide and have birdseye all the way across or even curly for that matter....going to keep the rest for a special family project.

Talk about a bear to work with, even with sharp spirals tear out galore so I had to resort to the performax and hand tools.....it was worth the hassle now that it's done....two cremation boxes with removable bottoms, 12 wX 8d X 7 3/4"H, Caboa inlay.

Finish is BLO, sit for three days, Sheliac, Lacquer then buffed with french polish, man is it ever smooth:)

Thanks for looking!

Andy

Andy, they look great. The b.e. maple looks wonderful - very nice stuff. The corners are a nice touch.

Andy,

That wood is simply fantastic! Really nice job on the boxes! Certainly worth all the extra trouble.

That's gorgeous stuff Andy! You did an outstanding job with the contrast in the joint.

I came across a piece of flame figured birdseye at work a couple of years ago....they were using it as a deck joist in a production area! Hopefully I'll find a better use for it sometime.
