Hello all,

I've been eyeing this Jet Jointer (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00064NGRY/qid=1142536924/sr=1-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-5932768-3191132?%5Fencoding=UTF8&s=hi&v=glance&n=228013) on Amazon model 708455. With the sale ending today, and a $25 rebate, I can get it for $370 and this just seems like one heck of a deal.

In general, I like Jet tools but thought I would try to get a quick opinion.

Many thanks,

Michael

I've not used a Jet jointer, but I don't think you'll find a lot of differences between the different jointers in this size range...the ones I've seen all seem pretty equal. They all produce pretty much the same end result. As an aside, I did notice Grizzly has the G0452 (with a 1hp motor instead of the Jet's 3/4hp, and a built-in mobile base) for only about $25 more, including shippng. My Griz jointer is a different 6" model bought on closeout sale at the end of 2005, but I've been very happy with it.

Hmm. That looks really sharp. Something to think about... Has anyone used one of these?

I've had a 6" JJ6CS for about fifteen years. Never had any problems with it.
You can down load the manual from here in PDF.

I have had the closed based Jet for about 9 years. Its done a great job including 7' 12/4 maple bedposts. That said I'd read recent reviews of all the models in the category before I'd buy one again.
