I really liked Jim Ketron's winged Maple bowl he posted a while back, so when we swapped some wood, he sent my a slab from a limb burl to try. I finished this a while back but just got around to taking some pics. I got a little too carried away and got it offset too far, so you have to set it in your lap to keep the ice cream from falling out:( . 13" across by 3" deep, gel poly finish.

Another beauty Travis! Ya know, as a lap-bowl, it also provides a place for a bowl of sprinkles and hot fudge so you can keep loading up the ice cream.;)
It's a wonderful piece!:)

Travis, a lovely piece. Me, I would keep the cookies on the wing. I don't care for the sprinkles. I sure would like to see you guys turn one of these winged beauties just for the learning experience. Nice work!!!!:D

I assume you still have all of your knuckles? Another winner for sure, great piece:) Personally I would keep the chocolate syrup on the wing:D

Did that thing sound like a helicopter while it was spinnin'???!!!

Very nice work! Kinda reminds me of a comet with a trailing tail...

Thanks for the pictures!

Nice one, Travis.

Guys, Newton's laws of gravity combined with Einstein's theory of relativity and as modified for icecreamology by Prof. Hoyt stipulates that all excess syrup (defined as all syrup not in the shipping container, still in the bowl, or somewhere within your digestive system) will be found on:
Your chin
Your shirt
Your new carpet

Travis..... real nice, but I disagree with the others. A good homemade hot sauce with chips on the flat.:)

It is a real beauty.

Very nice Travis. Since you like to "Grab a fistfull of throttle and Dump the clutch", you need to make a floor/ lap jack to steady it.

If you wore it on your head, would it look like one of those Long Billed Fishing hats? Remove the ice cream or salsa first.;)

Very nice, Travis! Definitely a good think to "know where your fingers are" with that one on the lathe!!

What a beautiful bowl. I would use the wing to support a nice hot espresso to go along with the Rocky Road!

I was thinking more in the line of cookies! You can set your coffee cup anywhere in the shop (and I do!) but you don't always have a place for your cookies....I'm thinking.....oatmeal cookies with butter pecan ice cream......
mmmmmmmm....

oh, BTW, I like the bowl, cookie holder and all!
