I got Chris Stott's book about turning boxes and have been trying to turn boxes by taking measurements and transferring them into real objects. Pretty difficult for me. Lots of fun though. Here is my first turning trying to follow a plan. I picked it because my sister lives in Seattle and I have been to the Space Needle. My son made the spire out of the only scrap I had laying around at the moment so we intend to do that a little higher in the future. Near future. Thanks for lookin'.

I have to say I think I like your tower better than the one in the book. Maybe it is because your top is a little shorter. The one in the book looks to long to me. That is a right nice job.

I agree with Paul, I think part of it is the selection of the stock, love the piece you used Rich! Is it Cherry?

The base is sycamore, the main box part is mahogany, the top part is osage, and the spire is bocote. Just wiped down with Danish oil so far.
