be useful? I'm trying to decide on either the Incra 2000 or the 5000 miter guage/sled. Do you have to have the sled type to do accurate segment work? Thanks Alan in Md.

A precision miter guide is almost essential for segmented work. Although I don't do that kind of turning, I suspect that a sled might be safer working with the small pieces you invariably need to cut. (If you do go the Incra miter guage route, I suggest you bypass the Incra 2000 and go to either the 3000 or just the 1000. The 2000 really only works well in "one direction", to the best of my knowledge.

You may want to check out the Join-tec smart miter it goes both ways and you don't need to change sides of the blade.Halsey

I've got the Incra 3000 and pretty much bought it to do segmented turnings. Dead on accurate miters are essential for the segments to look correct. The more segments per ring, the more accurate you need to be. Paul
