Whoda thunk my 48th year would have been so, umm...exciting and enlightening. (and sleep deprived... ;) ) Buying power tools would have been less capital intensive :D , but who can complain about "building a family"? Thanks for the well-wishes, folks.

I hope year 49 is just as wonderful. It may just be as interesting as the previous year if we can actually get our proposed home addition to happen...sending the retainer to the architect today...literally. :)

Strange...I have the date in the system and said system sent me the automatic "birthday" message, too... It's not me hiding it!

Per requests...here's a few pictures from today's mealtime. The first was taken at a local brew-pub called Porterhouse in Lahaska PA (where I often eat lunch...great food, especially beef). This was the girls first time there and they liked it because it's non-smoking and they have chicken fingers. ;) It was also the first time since Moscow that I drank a little of the evil peeva (beer) in front of the girls. They are extremely sensitive to alcohol consumption due to family history, without going into details. I think it was good for them to see that an adult can actually drink a beer without getting drunk and abusive. The second pic (a little blurred) is of me blowing out my candle (singlar... :D ) in the very delicious dark chocolate pudding cake that Dr. SWMBO made from one of the Cook's Illustrated volumes. Delicious is such a mild word... Last picture is the girls watching the Christmas video I recently finished editing...they didn't see it until yesterday and have been enraptured by it. Not quite as much as PowerRangers, but...

And now back to the shop...twice in one day! Wow! I started another candle stand; this time out of tiger maple.

Happy Birthday Jim! What a sweet celebration it must have been with your two girls.

Here's to many, many more!

A little birthday math...You've been posting for about 3 years now and have 13,041 posts (at the time I'm posting.) When we do celebrate that 100th birthday, you'll have 234,738 posts...if you can keep up the same pace "old man" :D :p :D

Alison has posted about the day in our BLOG at http://a-j-adopt.blogspot.com in case you want more in-depth commentary on how the girls handled it. I think what she wrote is really great. I, too, was pleased with the day! (Even though my new bright orange polo shirt doesn't have a pocket...you, know...for the reading glasses... :D :D :D )

Whoda thunk my 48th year would have been so, umm...exciting and enlightening. ...literally. :)

Jim,
Literally!? How did you get so smart in only 48 years? I'm pushing 65 and, when I flip a switch in the shop, I'm still not sure if I am turning on the lights or turning on the new Electric Chair that I am perfecting!! :D :)

Have a GREAT 49th year and thank you for all of your help in the past and in the future!! :D
