Help,
Lathe has 1 1/4" x 8 TPI, face plates from ebay have 1" x 8 TPI. Where to get inexpensive adapters?
Thanks in advance
Ernie

Earnie,
I purchased that adapter from PSI to use my Jet face plates on the PM. They are 20 bux and work fine. With the adapter turning on the lathe and a drill bit in the tailstock, I drilled a hole in it to allow it to be used with my vacuum chucks.

Thanks a lot guys. That's what is so impressive about "The Creek". Somebody always has the answers and is willing to share.
Again, thank you both,
Ernie

Pat,
Actually, I haven't been turning long enough to break one but, did find a couple of steel faceplates on ebay that have the 1" x 8 TPI. I do however, expect to break one sooner or later, its probably a right of passage.

Can one make his own faceplate like this?
1. Get a threaded nuts,
2. Choose a thick block of wood
3. Cut a recess for the nut (drill and chisels after tracing the nut profile).
4. Epoxy the nut in.
5. Turn it true
Voila?

Not speaking from experience, but if this is feasable, a nut would probably be CHEAP and you could make plenty of different sizes.

Tim B.

Thanks Tim,
Now why didn't I think of that?
Now I'm on the hunt for the right nuts.
Thanks again,
Ernie
