Best I can figure I started this bowl roughly 14 years ago. Sold the house and lost my space to work. It has moved with the lathe at least 2 times now. :)

I always liked the shape and despite a crack that developed I just wouldn't toss it. This morning I fiddeling around still waiting on the chuck adator from OneWay to get here. I got the bearing replaced in the bowl lathe and I decided to it was time to finish it.

Spalted hackberry. 6" by 3" with just a coat of BLO on it. I love the shape of this bowl but I still have to work on my sanding. I just don't seem to be able to get them as good as I would like. But that is probably my turning technique more than my sanding.

Fine Hackberry wine takes time. So should the bowl.

I wonder if anyone has tried that. The berries are actually kind of good though a bit dry.;)

Good story Jeff and a nice bowl.

Most people don't get that. ;) Did you live near the Tennesse River? Did you know a fellow named Ken Garret?

The bowl looks like a winner and was made on the same time frame as my home improvement projects.

How true! Often sweet when you get back to those long neglected projects and actually finish them. In this case, well worth the wait. The bowl looks great and the wood is wonderful. Great job. Try to get the next one done in ten years or less!!
