Here's a small Apple bowl that I turned recently for a guy at work. Some wood I rescued from the neighbor's ditch back last summer. Some neat spalting in it - the wood was punky, so I soaked it up good in CA.

Sanded thru 600 and then three coats of wipe on poly, then buffed.

6-1/2" wide... ~3" tall...

Looks good buddy!!!! One of these days, I'm going to get me some apple and hope that it doesn't split like all the other apple I've tried.

When you think about how much apple likes moving ---that is a very nice bowl. I have never seen spalted apple.
Thanks for sharing

Great looking bowl. Exactly, how do you "soak" the wood in ca? I get this visual of a tub with ca in it and the piece sitting in it but this can't be right as ca is like 2 bucks for a little tube. I have a couple chunks of some kind of wood that is SO punky I won't be able to turn if I don't do something to it.

Sorry Rich... not so good choice of a word there... I don't submerge it in CA - I just meant I put a LOT of CA on all of the punky wood. I got a pretty big bottle of thin CA, so I didn't spare it.

Man, that's a nice bowl! Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me with what she can do to a piece of wood.
