Attached, I think, will be pictures of the latest lamp that I have turned. Got to find a better place to take lamp pictures. The first 4 pictures are how I glued up pieces for the body and base of the lamp. The woods used in the body were cherry (the darker wood) and white oak (the lighter wood). Picked up the white oak from my brother-in-law in Fl (another SMC member). Actually this is a lamp that I have made for them. Base was cherry and birds eye maple.

Next project is a floor lamp. 3 table lamps to make 1.

OK, only the last picture loaded. Tried loading 5 at once. Here are the pictures on the glue ups.

Great to see a lamp being posted on SWC. I'm hankering to do a lamp, too. Soon as I get to Harbor Freight to get the 3/8" auger, I'm going give it a try. I'm assuming you turned 2 pieces: base and body. Did you mate the two with a tenon? Did you hollow the base any? How did you accommodate the electrical cord through the base?

Make sure you post your next project with some design details.

Yes, turned the lamp in 2 pieces. Mated the body with the base with a tenion about 2" by 3/4". Looking at picture number 4, you will see that I put a 1/4" grove in the base before turning. Also drilled in a 7/8" hole about 1" deep so that the nut holding the body to the base is recessed. Also glued it. This allows me to bring the cord out the side.

I love how you put the tear drops in with the small cut logs! Nice looking lamp. I tried one once. I won't take pictures of it.:o

Really nice lamp Edward.

Say, where'd you get the lamp parts?

Nice lamp Edward. I have been thinking of trying one. My wife just asked me the other day if I could turn a couple for the living room. Thanks for sharing.
