Hello All,
The claim is X3 contour is much better than 12 and I should upgrade. I have attached a drawing if anyone would like to give it a try using X3. Lets see the differance.
Not the number of nodes after contouring, and they are lines not curves.
Have fun Dennis

I got:

Corel 12:
Curve 1: 10 nodes original, 131 nodes contour
Curve 2: 44 nodes original, 745 nodes contour
Curve 3: 76 nodes original, 1245 nodes contour
Corel X3:
Curve 1: 10 nodes original, 21 nodes contour
Curve 2: 44 nodes original, 108 nodes contour
Curve 3: 76 nodes original, 140 nodes contour

Looks like X3 is doing a lot better at post-contour node reduction than 12...probably sharing some code with the (improved) trace function.

Thanks Lee, did you notice if they were lines or curves? It did reduce the nodes well. Can you post the results of the drawing?

Thanks Dennis

I think I got this saved as v12...

Ver 12 the contour is all lines, not curves. I think that is the reason for all the nodes. You need to zoom in very close to see between nodes it is made of lines not curves.
The reason this is a issue in 12 the segments of lines in a Sharp curve with only .003 offset (for the gerf of a beam total 0f .006) you see in the middle of the line (streight) is offset by 0 at the original curve, big deal, I know. When I make a piece made up say 500 cut objects and say in a row or area of 50 pieces that are off .003 that realy adds up. I have attached a photo of a piece about 500 inlays.
All in all looks like the upgrage works great. The next Piece is made of 900 inlays, I will upgrade to 13 before cuuting, Lee thank you were much for your help.
