Boy, I got all my bowl blanks done, and all the scraps that were big enough chopped into pen blanks (I stopped counting at 200).

I have some more buckets of pen blanks, but I was too lazy to get them out of the Dungeon Annex for the pic...

Yep, 27 bowl blanks, a cutting block and one large piece off the stump of that big tree...

I melted a mess of candles and then painted the sides of my bowl blanks, as well as dipping all the ends of my pen blanks.....

I cut that big chunk of Keyaki to about 28 cm for the wife's cutting block and I then banded it........

and after that I sealed both ends with hot wax.......

Kind of reminds me of a big chunk of cheese :D

Once I get the lathe, I'm going to put this on there and make it rounder, and put a blood grove in the top. I'll then drill out the pith, and put a lighter colored new core in it replacing the pith.

Anyways, I have some more pics, but is is 5:20 AM and I need to get to sleep.

Cheers!

Haha. I wasn't too sure what to expect from a guy in Japan talking about Hot Wax Monday night. Sounded like some sort of exotic...uh...nevermind.

Man, you got the wood!!!! Gonna be a turnin' fool when that thing shows up. can't wait to see what you do with it.

Well I'd say that Stu has a stash of wood that will last him for a while. Longer if he doesn't get the rest of his lathe. ;)

So did you loose any hair after the wax job Stu:confused:    :D :D

If I get into another slightly wonky board of the Sakura, and some of the Aka Gashi, I'll easily double that number of blanks :D

But I think, just maybe, I have enough for now.....or for a little while that is....

Well I was thinking it, "Yes Mr. Miyage, Wax on Wax off...." but that was car wax, a whole different thing ;) :D

Did not loose any hair, but I have to tell you, painting on HOT WAX you have to be VERY careful about where that splatter goes........

I'd much rather get some Anchorseal.....
