Made from scraps from the bowsprit timber for my sailboat. Not pretty but after 37 coats of paint, it won't be too bad. :D

I don't know what it's for. It started out as just an excuse to cut some little dovetails with the WoodRat. Although they don't show in the picture, the ones in the drawer are 6mm wide at the base. I don't even have a chisel that would fit in there! The ones in the case are slightly larger. When I was getting out the pieces for the case, I planed the stock until it was just smooth on both sides and didn't worry about the thickness. Then I just figured the size based on how much material I had including three pieces to glue up for the back panel. That drawer is pretty tiny so I don't know what will go in there.

The whole thing was just for fun to see what I could make out of some wood I would otherwise have given to the neighbor for his burn pit.

I did the same thing with some leftover scraps of 2x lumber a couple of years ago and ended up with a cabinet that is 6' wide, 7' high and 24" deep. The only thing I bought was a sheet of 1/4" lauan plywood for the panels. All of the 2x stuff got jointed and planed and some of it got ripped into narrow pieces and reglued to gain enough length.

Not fine furniture but it is kind of nice to make something for nothing.

Actually the bright-finished yellow poplar on my boat looks kind of nice after having some sun exposure. That sick green has turned a nice light brown.

Well it looks good Dave.
Something I need to do for my collection of hand tools.
And I need to practice up on my hand tool usuage, joints, dovetails, before I start it.
I figure a hand tool cabinet, ought to be made by hand. No electrons. [Except maybe for lumber surfacing] Don't tell anybody!!
