After looking through many hardwood species web sites and after looking through my books, I can't find a description of tiger oak.
Isn't tiger oak simply QS white oak with a pseudo species name? If it is legitimate, where is it forested?

Hi Dan,
I thought tiger oak was like tiger maple, simply curly oak called by a different name.

Any oak I've seen people describe as "Tiger Oak" was in fact White oak with alot of large rays.

I have seen a lot of curly oak, usually red oak. My boy is always bringing pieces of it home from work because it doesn't look right when mixed in on a cabinet. Maybe I'll have enough someday to make curly oak cabinets.:D
