Here's some pics of my second toy chest.............and my second project to date. I thought it turned out well for an amateur like me. Wood is poplar. Finish is Formby's (5 coats) and OB spray satin poly (4 coats). Panels are the color of my son's room (a light blue).

Looks good.

If he is anything like my two you better start building a few more. They fill up fast. On second thought, run the plans through a copier at 300%, then make a few more. :eek:

Now go out and grab a few matchbox cars to toss in there when he gets it. No boy child under about 75 can resist those little buggers.

Beautiful work! Great design! One of the best I've seen yet.
It looks soo cool...like it's lit up inside with florescents,or something.
Great finish,too.Poplar is a difficult wood to get so smooth,without blotches. Thanks for sharing.:)

Beautiful job John, I really like the painted panels in it! I really like the way you used the wood grain to enhance the lines and curves of the chest. It's sure to be a favorite heirloom!!
