Well, I went to the storage room to grab some buckeye tonight and discovered that three different pieces have sprouted! I don't know how normal this is....but it sure shocked me. I coulda sworn that I killed it!:D

That's funny John. The same thing happened to my mesquite. I started to cover a piece up to see if it would grow roots. Never did though.

Hoosiers understand, Buckeyes can do what they want, when they want, your place or theirs.;)

. . . Of course I'm more of a Hawkeye fan, so that does not apply.:D

Sorry, couldn't resist,
Larry

I'd go ahead and plant those. In 30 or 40 years you should have some nice tree to cut down and turn! :)

When I was a kid on the farm in Iowa, we used to cut down "hedge fences", and made posts out of the hedge (sometimes to replace the hedge fence with a regular fence). Those hedge posts would sometimes grow.

BTW, try pounding steeples into a fenceline of hedge posts for a day! That is one hard wood.

Done my share of that Larry. Only with Locust posts and barbed wire. Lots of smashed fingers. Ahhh those were the days eh?:)
