Well, I was surfing through Yahoo Auctions, here in Japan (Ebay failed here) and I saw this large power planer.

This is a Ryobi unit, not new, but it works just fine (that ruler is 30cm long, just about 12")

The cut on this thing is 155mm or 6.1"

The blades were there, and they were covered in a build up of pitch and or sawdust, but, lucky me, they did not have one nick on them, they just were dull as could be.

I cleaned them up, and sharpened them with my Vertitis planer blade jig, worked like a charm. You can see the mess it makes, going to have to figure something out for a DC catch of some kind.

On thing I can use it for right away is to flatten the bowl blanks I am making out of all the off cuts and stuff I have from the Logging in Tokyo Saga. Rough bowl above....

Now that is one smooth bowl blank, easier and safer to put on the lathe.....(If I had a lathe..)

Bowl blank in the round

I'm working on a nice stack of bowl blanks, but I'm still waiting on the lathe.....
Oh yeah, this new Power Planer, it cost me a grand total of .............. $30................ :D
Cheers!
