I only use my scroll saw when I need to cut an inside area without cutting through the outside section. That happens about once a year. I have only used the blades that came with the saw. I don't know what the size reference means when they say "size 2,5,7,9,or 12". My blades have a pin and I believe that is the only type of blade that it can use. Can anyone give advice on the nomenclature used?

Thanks, Doug Keener

The link below is a very good description of the various blade types as well as links to blade size charts. Might want to check out other areas of this web site as well for some ideas on other uses for your saw as well.

Doug:

Go to http://www.scrollsaws.com to learn EVERYTHING about scrollsaws.

Go to http://www.mikesworkshop.com to buy Flying Dutchman blades.
Great blades at the best price. Call Mike if you aren't sure about what you want/need - he will send you a few samples. A truely nice gentleman.

Good luck.

Doug

The numbers refer to the size of the blade. The smaller the number the smaller the blade. All blade companies refer to there blades by these sizes. However not all like number blades are the same size. For instance a Olsen #2 may be a couple thou thicker or wider than a Eberle #2. Plus there are about 6 or 8 different styles, double tooth, skip tooth, standard, etc... All blades will be a standard length.

If your machine takes a pin end blade you can't use a non pin end blade unless you drill holes and add your own pin.

The only one I know of that sells pin end blades is Wildwood Designs.
