Walnut sides, walnut/maple/canary top. Curly maple inside...and next time I'll wait until the outer shell is glued up before I cut the pieces for the inside.:(

I don't do "round", but if I keep doubling the number of sides, pretty soon no one will notice.:p

Beautiful box Lee. May I ask how you did the joints?

Beautiful box Lee. May I ask how you did the joints?Cut box joints, cut off the ends of the fingers at 45 degrees (I used a disk sander), and glue it up. After glue-up, there will be another nub sticking out from each finger...trim that off.

"Bevel box joint" is probably as good a description as you're going to find for it...let's see if this drawing makes more sense, looking down from the top edge:

Excellent job, Lee. The top is very kaleidoscopic, with the pentagonal maple pieces. I like it.

Lee - thanks for posting the joint drawing. I've wondered how to make these for some time and will try your technique soon. I often make joints at very odd angles in small boxes and still seek a relatively efficient and accurate way to do it. Yours looks like a winner. Great job.
