Nice haul Stu. On that burl, don't be surprised if there is no burl in it. If a big bulge is cause by several limbs that have died, you may have some swirl but no burl. Course, it doesn't mean there wont be burl... it could also be swirlly burl.:confused:

Doesn't matter what the grain looks like; what does is the flavor you put in the finished piece. I reccommend Chocolate Swirly Burly Curl.

Jim, I've found one, there is a Japanese guy near me, well sort of near me, that I bumped into on a different site.

....but it is all in Japanese :rolleyes: :D

They bring in top wood turners from all over the world about once a year, they usually do some sort of seminar, and it is usually in Tokyo :D

It's actually a function of my Google Bar. I really like it. It's not intrusive like all the others of this type and only takes a minute to install. It includes an easily search field and pop-up blocker that really really works.

OK to answer a few questions.

There is lots of "English" used here in names of products and groups etc. as it is considered "Cool".

There are lots of various machine translators out there, I use Alta Vista Translate (http://world.altavista.com/) for simple stuff, as it is good at that. As I can read the basic Japanese phonetic alphabets, I really like one called Rikai (http://www.rikai.com/perl/Home.pl) as it leaves me the Japanese characters and when I mouse over them, they give me a translation of the characters with both readings (The Kanji Characters can be read many ways, often when you combine two to make a word, the reading of them changes from how they are read alone) and an English translation.


Most machine translators suck, big time. The only ones I've seen that are any good cost big time, like $700, and you can customize the definitions and dictionary, so as you use it more, it improves.

I married my translator :p
