Hackberry hollow form, 13" diameter by 8 1/2" tall. Played around with my branding pen I made, that was fun:cool: .Turned this Hackberry twice after it's alky bath and still had some cracks show up:( . OK, what now? Remounted it on a jam chuck and went after it with my texturing tool and wire wheel, that took care of the cracks. Finished with a coat of gel poly.

Travis,
I have a hard enough time just getting something round and hollow and you do something like this.

All I can say is another awsome piece.

Travis that is quite unique.
Just wait till that new girl Valerie sees it. She's gonna freak out and think you crocheted it on.

The approach you took with the wire brush to the cracks is similar to how one attacks cracks that propagate in welds, called penning.

Nice work,

Bill.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>:)

The lengths to which people go to abuse perfectly good firewood never ceases to amaze me.

A really wonderful piece of work, Travis. I like the burning but I think I am more intrigued by the texturing on the lower part. In the picture it resembles orange peel. Is that what it looks and feels like in person? Regardless, a very nice piece!!!:D

Thanks everyone. Mike, the texturing looks and feels like something between an orange and a coconut.
