Outstanding Mike. I like the contrast. I will be building this same piece soon. Any tips or tricks? I have recently completed the night stands and the mirror from this set.

Thanks - actually my 12 year old son came up with the idea on contrasting stains. Hints...buy the hardware kit suggested I think it's from LeeValley. Carefully dimension the drawers since they have no slides and require a tight fit. On the book matched sides I actually used my TS to re-saw the wood (even though I have a 14" HF BS w/riser and 3/4" Timberwolf blade I still havn't mastered resawing on the BS). Stain the side/door panels before assembly. I'm sure there are many more...

Beautiful job, Mike, and I'll bet it'll be in the family for generations. I had a similar, but smaller dresser when I was a kid. Your son's dresser is gonna see a lot of use. :)

Mike, you did a beautiful job on this dresser! My bet is that it will continue to become more valuable to your son with every passing year! I really like the contrasting stains, so please tell your son that I think he has a great imagination, and will probably be a great woodworker too! The handles you have on the dresser are a perfect accent. Are they the ones you referred to from Lee Valley? Great job Mike!

Mike,

Outstanding... I'd say your little guy has quite a flair for design. I like the two stains... I never thought of it....

Also, nice to see a fellow WW'r so close....

Very nice, great looking piece!!!

Why the large door on the left, what is behind that?

Just curious, as I've not seen a dresser like that before.

I bet your son is proud of his Dad!! :D

You did good. Nothing beats the great feeling of building something for a son or daughter. I hope you engraved the date on it somewhere so when it gets handed down to his son he will know when it was built and be proud of his grandpa. :)

Thanks for sharing the picture.

Mike,
Not only will your son enjoy the dresser, I suspect your future daughter-in-law and possibly grandchildren (if said son is willing to give it up:D ) will enjoy it as well. Beautiful work.

Stu, I have a dresser that I was given as a youngster (now my son's) that has this style of layout with the door. I was always told it is supposed to be a shirt press - but Mike can correct me if I'm wrong in this case (or all cases as may be the fact)

That is really nice Mike! I'll have to dig out the Wood magazines and earmark that one. I could see building something like that for my little man one day.
