Got 2 small logs of Eucalyptus last Friday, 7ft & a 5ft. Got
them cut up into smaller peices, the bottom near the root ball is real punky, going to try and stabilize it after I figure out how.....I did
get the worm in the pic to evacuate his home with a little help
from a pair of needle nose pliers..Roughed out 2 more blanks
from further up the tree and are soaking in alchy bath.

Cut offs:
31769

Roughed with worm:
31770

Mike all I can say is LUNCH. It looks like an intesting piece of wood too, good luck.

I've been meaning to try some Eucalyptus. My neighbor has a large pile of "firewood" that he said I could take some pieces from anytime I wanted. hmmm I think it might be time to sharpen up the ole gouge...

Great looking start, Mike. Looks like it should make a great bowl.:) :) It's alway nice when you can be provided with a snack while turning:D

From the picture Mike, punky would be in better shape than that. Good luck with it.

Say, where'd you get eucalyptus logs in Texas? I traded for a piece of the stuff and really like the color and the way it turned.

Wow...at that size, you could roll him in corn meal and shove a stick in him!!

Good luck on the wood Mike! Looks like the impossible from here.:)

Ernie, at our plant in Lolita we have 200+ that were planted for
wind breaks. In a month or so we will cut down 4, 65ft trees to
make way for 3, 138KV transmission lines into my substation, & I have
Dibs on all 4! :D ...Your welcome to some if you would like...
The pieces I got last week were from a dead tree that was cut down,
I saw the guy passing my office with his truck loaded down with it
headed to the burn pit! Needless to say I ran him down before he made
it :) .

That's no worm. That's a young wood snake!

Well, I'll bet you work at Interplast, or I like to still call it Amtopp... it's easier. I've always wondered what kind of trees those are. What building are you in, or do you float around? Course, I'm assuming I know where you work, but I can't figure Lolita having another plant.

Anyway, I'd love to have some of the wood. PM me if you are sure and don't mind so details can be worked out for when and all.

Thanks, Ernie

Ernie, yep it's Inteplast! Amtopp is one of 3 business units, Amtopp,
Worldpak & IBS. Actually there are 7 plants folded into those units.
I'm the Utility dept Elect supv. going on 15 yrs, and yes I float around. I'm afraid to ask how you know about Inteplast! You can have all you want
when they come down....I'll let you know when.
