Well George did it the other day and I did it today. I made a beautiful funnel and as Bill Grumbine says in his DVD I meant to do that ya know.
Anyway got a pretty nice looking bowl with a bottomless bottom. Oh well. I guess one out of two isn't bad. One is now soaking in DNA to be wrapped tomorrow morning before work.

Bernie,

I'd say you did well...... the thing did not become a flying saucer at ya

Like I posted before.... Just eat ice cream faster and leave the milk out of your cereal :D

Looks like it would have been a nice one though.

Now I don't feel so bad.

Misery loves company, eh, Bernie?

Rookie question here - can you glue up a small blank on the bottom of a "funnel" like this, remount, and turn the blank round and smooth up the inside? Seems you could get some neat contrast and a different look.....

Like I said, rookie quesiton..... And you are doing GREAT Bernie, I'll never catch ya!

I did that today Bernie. About the same thing on a HF, went to the foot, brought the swans neck in a little bit to much and lost it. On a piece of red wood burl. Just very hard to see the inside.

But it was only a mini, --- 3/4"h x 1/2"w,

Barry I don't know if you could do that or not. You gotta ask the more experienced than me. That is only my 3rd bowl. I thought about it. I think it would be easier to just turn another bowl.

Generally, unless the bowl blank and the only one, was from a tree that your Great, Great Grandfather planted and you wished a family keep sake, like Bernie said, easier to turn a new bowl. However, yes it can be done, if one has the knowledge on how to go about it. That's for another time.

Funny thing about those goofs...I did that awhile back. It was a nice looking bowl. So I just glued it back together by pushing the bottom into the inside and sanded it real well. I had posted it on my photo site and somebody wrote and said they wanted to buy it. I explained the problem and she didn't care, she wanted it. One of my very few sales as I've made not attempt to sell things. So you never know...

I wonder which is better, the "bowl" explodes into 10 pieces and you immediately dump the remains in the circular file or a funnel that almost looks like something but that continues to remind you that you're getting a bit too cheeky with your tools???

For the past week or so I've only done one or the other. Bernie, I FEEL   your pain.
