Hi Gang,
Some time last year, our fellow wood turner, Carole Valentine introduced a turning, that set off a spark. ;)
I went out to look for a container of sorts, found what I was looking for in Wally-world, kinda like a sugar bowl, candy dish I guess. Then started hitting on the auction pages for some "Magical Floating water Candles". Sort of old hat today, but I did score. Found it's still very popular in the UK, as they are maid there.
The bowl is 5 3/4"w x 3"h, glued up Walnut, Maple and Cherry in a Heptagon form with oval accents.
The glass dishes were only $1.00 - something, so I bought 6, turned 6 other forms, not requiring the same effort, that will go up for sale at a show a month from now.
Carole, Thanks for the the idea and the inspiration, these are fun.
Some photos of what I came up with, Thanks for takin a look,
