I've never resawn before. Well, never anything I've used in a project. I just set-up my Delta 14" bandsaw and have some rosewood and curly maple to resaw for a jewelry box. The boards are about 4" - 6" wide.

My question: Does grain affect resawing? If I set the drift angle with a piece of scrap (say plywood, or red oak) will there be any difference when I start to resaw the other wood?

Thanks,

Ron Robinson

ron, hardwood will get you close, don`t use the ply when attempting to compinsate for drift.....02 tod

If you have drift...use a point fence adjacent to the blade ...mark the line on the top and you can follow it by pivoting the board as required to stay on the line.

Also, do practice on some other material before you commit to the "good stuff". Resawing isn't hard, but getting comfortable first is a good idea.
