This wood is called Mokoku, I don't know if it will be of value, but the
red/orange color is sure cool!

Looks like a lifetime of happiness Stu!!! You're going to wear out that lathe pretty quick. Better order another one now!!:D ;)

I bring flatwork magazines to work to read at breaktime and lunch. My coworkers laughingly refer to it as my 'wood porn'. Catalogs are of course 'tool porn'. :D
Stu, in those first two shots that doesn't look like your dungeon, you must have been out in the countryside to get all that sunshine! I don't even have a spinny thing yet and those look like great fun!

Nope, just around the corner from my house.

If you look at my Logging in Tokyo (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=27490) thread, all with be revealed!! :D

Cheers!

Bummer on the lathe Stu. Of course like John said with all that wood you better order another lathe. You'll have it wore out by the time all that wood is turned. That is some neat looking wood Stu. That orange color should turn out pretty cool. Those smaller ones should make some pretty nice vases. Keep us posted.

Looks good Stu......
Lot's of turning stock there.....almost time to get busy on the spinny thang hugh?

My problem is, I now examine every single piece of firewood BEFORE it goes into my woodstore to see if it would be worth while turning stock.:o :D

Nice looking stuff but if I were you I would inspect it with a metal detector before placing it in a lathe. One piece of metal, there could be more. Thats sometimes a problem with timber that is obtained from residential properties. Its not uncommon to find nails or the remains of an old clothes line hook. Check it out and we shall be anxious to see what you create out of these pieces of timber.

Bruce it all gets checked before I cut it on the chain saw, I have a Wood Wizard II, but just the same, I'll check it again, as sometimes metal can be well buried.

That metal detector has paid for it self so many times over in just knife sharpening, not to mention the safety issues.

Cheers!
