Well, I had the pleasure of getting a visit from Konrad Sauer (Sauer & Steiner Hand planes) last night and again this morning. This morning John Timberlake stopped by as well to soak up some of the glorious surface prep work. All I can say if WOW! Konrad brought the whole arsenal of planes from tiny rebates to huge U-boat sized jointers. Unreal. We did a few comparisons between, what I already owned, and what he brought. Wow (a reoccurring term I'll be using), apples to oranges. The surface left by the S&S infills was amazing, and I always thought I'd received a nice surface finish from my LN's. Afterwards we sorted through some of the 7000 Sq ft. of veneer I just purchased and talked shop for a few hours. A great time had by all. I even got to fondle the tote of the Blackwood stuffed A5 I have coming. His work is simply gorgeous. While I've known Konrad for some time this is the first time I've met him, and spent any considerable time with him. Very knowledgeable, and really sweats the details in his product. It's amazing seeing a plane that has a mouth filed to 1.5 thou. And even more amazing seeing a shaving eek its way through it. The rebate plane I played with performed like nothing I've ever used, and he had a small mitre plane that was also effortless to use. Thanks to John and Konrad, both fellow Creekers.

Visits are always a lot of fun...an this one sounds particularly great given there were "toys to fondle"...

Well Steve that certainly qualifies as a gloat. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Konrad for over 2 years now so I envy you not just the chance to play with the planes, but the chance to visit. In Old Tools fashion that kind of gloat rates a hearty "You suck!":D

I'm assuming his next stop is to see Chris Schwarz?

Steve,
Wow doesn't really do these justice, but I'm can't think of anything else.

I hope my keyboard doesn't short out because of the drool! :D

Wow I cannot afford any of those beautiful Planes but maybe Konrad would let me stop by and drool in their general vicinity next time I am in Kitchener.

Does he ever go to any of the local woodshoows?

Steve,
How did you like the 55* unhandled smoother ? You guys must of enjoyed it as it was pretty dull by the time it got to Cincinnati;) Which BTW was simply fantastic:D
Don`t forget Jill and the boys.
