The wood is Birch, and the finnish is Minwax® Fast-Drying Polyurethane Semi-Gloss

I sprayed it on with the HF HVLP sprayer i got for x-mas

Nice table ! I have been addicted to tables lately. Made them from oak, maple, logs and barnwood. I'm gonna have to find a new piece to make. Your's looks good!

Welcome to the Creek. We do not see a mess, rather we see some work and good work at that. Hope your wife appreciates the craftsmanship.

Nice work, Doug, and welcome to the Creek. You're right...this is a different kind of place, and at least for me, the only place to be. Like others have mentioned, I don't see any mess in your shop. Are you sure you included the "mess" picture? ;)

Welcome Doug.

That's a mighty fine looking table. I can see why the wife would want matching everythings. ;) :)

Doug,
I'm impressed with the looks of that table. Before your response to the wood question, I assumed it was cherry. Now my question: What was the HVLP that you got for Christmas? And would you recommend it? I have considered spraying for some time now, but keep procrastinating.
