This is some of the brightest Osage Orange I have seen. It almost hurts your eyes to look at it. The pictures don't give the corect color. Its a very hard wood but finishes nice and smooth and easy to sand.
It measures 6 1/2" tall and 4 3/4" wide, with an Ebony collar. Finish is Gel Poly and buffed on the beall.

Ya, spinnin' a little yeller can be a whole lot of fun. Osage really polishes up nice, too. That's a beautiful form, Jim.

BTW, the collar really is "in the background". Can you also post a shot with a white or grey background? I'd like to see how you proportioned the collar on this piece.

Very nice turning Jim, that Osage Orange is one wood that is most abundant in our area, one local turner, bascially only turns that wood.

That is very nice, love the shape and finish. Jim, when you say Gel Poly, what do you mean? Are you talking the normal wipe on poly?
Thanks,
Corey

Nice one, Jim. You got the curve just right. Most impressive.

Wondering if you roughed it green or dry.

Thanks all
Corey, it is Rocklers Wipe on Gel Poly

Its from green wood Andy. I'm a DNA guy Love it!
This wood is prone to Checking it cracks if you look at it wrong!
I think its best to turn it ASAP! Although this blank has been in log form for around 5-6 months I lost some of the wood to checking It would have been a much larger Piece if I would have turned it months ago.
