So I recently restored a Crouch 71-60 oscillating edge sander and now I need to find some abrasive belts but I am unsure of how to properly measure for size? There is zero information online about this particular model and according to Ritter which is the company that manages Crouch’s parts and information services they can’t find any info on it either. The platen is 10” tall.

Any ideas on how to measure for a belt?

Measure the distance between the centers of the drive and idler pulleys and add half the circumference of each pulley. Otherwise, wrap a cord or flat tape around the pulleys and measure that.

The Vintage Machinery site has a brochure for that model on their publication reprint page, specifying an 8" x 159" belt. I am not sure if site rules allow a link, but you should be able to find it easily enough. At 1500 # that is a solid piece of old iron.
