Hi all. New member here that entered the woodworking profession last June. I made a career change from the "fast track" in Washington to country living in central VA to change my "hobby" to a new career. Bought a 21 acre farm, complete with 2,000 sf barn that I converted to my workshop. I've attached some "before" and "after" pictures of the shop. The new pictures were before I installed the DC system, pegboards, etc.

Currently working on a bow front bath vanity for a customer who wants it to look like cherry but not BE cherry. "Customer is always right"!

I've really enjoyed the SMC forums and plan on visiting it frequently.
Regards,
Rich

Welcome Richard.
I too have my shop in the country. 31 acres to take care of when time. Live here, work here.
It's really nice isn't it?
What kind of projects do you do?

Ah...he's arrived! Welcome aboard, Richard. This is a very nice place to hang your hat when you're not in the shop or keeping the "boss" happy! I'd like to see some pics of that bowfront if you get the chance to post them, too.

Richard, Welcome to the Creek and to living the dream. I get to your area about once a month. On one of my trips perhaps we could have coffee.

Welcome Richard. That is a place to dream for. I would love to have a 2000 sq. ft. shop. Kinda nice to be in the country after the hustle and bustle life. Good luck.

Welcome to the Creek, Richard. I'd love to try filling a 2000 sf shop, and with that much acreage, I'd have a hard time keepiong up with it all. For some reason, the pics you attached are displaying pretty small (at least for me). You can likely bump them up to about 500 of 600 pixels wide and still fit within the SMC size limit.

Thanks for introducing yourself -

- Vaughn

Steve:
Thanks for the welcome. As for my business, I build custom cabinets, furniture as a main line and then I have a side line of wine presentation boxes and humidors. If a customer has something outside of that, I'll consider it of course.

Lou:
I installed a heat pump to address the heat and humidity of our Virginia summers (and rusting tools!!!!) and it handles the winter pretty well too. I keep it set pretty low, around 55, to keep the utility bill down.
