There was a data breech at Experion back in January and the letter from Loan Depot explains the free coverage being provided to you via Experion.

Ditto on the "freeze".
Last time I unlocked it was more than 2 years ago when I applied for a HELOC

Yep. Ours are locked also. We "un-froze" it to apply for a different CC last year and immediately "re-froze" it after receiving the approval. It has sure cut down on the the junk mail for financial things.
