I have an Oliver planer that weighs 1500 lbs. I want to put it on a mobil base.
My question is: do the wheels have to have a 1500 capasity each or is it a total of 1500/4 .

I agree with Tod on this one! That kind of machinery is better handled with the pallet jack. Safer, easier and it lets the heavy machine sit on the shop floor snug as a bug. (You add the blocks to raise it enough to allow the pallet jack access under the machine)

....thats what I like about these fourms. Something as simple as my situation and not even thinking about blocks under the planer and a palet jack.
Thanks Tod & Jim.:D

I have a 20" tiwan planer in a shop fox frame and at 700 + lbs, it's hard to get moving. I'm sure you may need a helper or a winch to get a 1500 lb planer moving
good luck:)

I have a 2800 lb. planer, and mounted it on blocks so that I could use a pallet jack. I have to grunt and groan a bit, but I move it alone when need be, which is not often. I also built a couple of "boxes" that effectively raise the lift point on a pallet jack to close to under the base, and move a 2500 lb. jointer around, alone.

Alan,

I think this is a stealth gloat. I've never even seen a picture of a 2500+lb
jointer. You should be ashamed.:)
